PowerSentry - A Smart Power Strip
Idly running devices collectively contribute to significant amounts of wasted energy. This wasted energy can be seen to contribute to the weight of phantom loads, or the invisible costs. They exist as a result of devices drawing power even when not actively being utilized.
PowerSentry is our solution. In my Electronics for IoT (ME100) class, my group and I addressed these challenges by combining IoT technology with smart power management. It provides comprehensive energy monitoring, detecting and addressing the phantom loads spoken of earlier. This is accomplished through the leveraging of sensors, actuators, cloud-connected website, and relay system.

My Responsibilities:
- All electronics design (microcontroller, LCD screen, sensors, power electronics, wiring)
- All software (MicroPython)
- Cloud data collection and visualization via ThingSpeak
- Delegating tasks to meet required deadlines and project requirements
- Final deliverables in LaTeX and final video demonstration
